Kedarnath Dham temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, the most sacred pilgrimage centre located on the bank of Mandakini river. The historical name of this region is "Kedar Khand". Kedarnath and Panch Kedar in Uttarakhand and one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. It is believed that Kedarnath Dham is the place where Lord Shiva absolved Pandavas from the sin of killing their own cousins Kauravas in the battle of Kurukshetra war
Badrinath Dham or Badrinarayan Temple dedicated to lord Vishnu. Badrinath is one of the holy shrines for Vaishnavites among the 108 divya desams incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The Badrinath area is referred to as Badari or Badarikaashram (बदरिकाश्रम). According to the Bhagavata Purana, "There in Badrikashram the supreme being (Vishnu), in his incarnation as the sages Nara and Narayana, had been undergoing great penance since time immemorial for the welfare of all living entities.
Gangotri Dham is the main religious places among the four Char Dham pilgrimage circuit, is closely related to Goddess Ganga. According to the mythology, Goddess Ganges descended to the earth to absolve the sins of the humans and for the welfare of mankind to release them from sufferings; being pleased with the meditation of King Bhagirath. The water of River Ganga is believed to be amrit (nectar) and is thus considered a holy drink.
Yamunotri Dham (यमुनोत्री) is the seat of the Goddess Yamuna. The second largest holiest river after Ganga, It is part of the four holy abodes in Chardham pilgrimage yatra. Yamunotri temple was built by Maharani Gularia of Jaipur in the 19th century. According to Hindu mythology, It is believed that Yamuna is the daughter of Surya the Sungod & the sister of Yama, the god of death. the abode of a great sage called Asit Muni, who used to take a holy dip in the water of Ganga and Yamuna daily.
